I was reading about this event, but I'm not able to actually go for the lobster mini season during the week. Do you think it would be worth it to come over the weekend? Friday-Sunday?

To dive at LBTS, yes, absolutely!!! You can't catch lobsters again until August 6 (when they come into season until March 31), but there will be other fun events!
On the other hand, if you can't make mini-season, LBTS is fabulous for beach diving (or boat diving) to catch bugs....and there are several adorable nice inns right on the beach or across the street from the beach where you can stay if you come after August 6.
