my buddy and i decided to go and brave buford today as the last 3 times we have been back there it has been invested with bugs ......mossies...[mosquitos]
the rangers have put 3 big tree trunks in the pathway so a person has to carry their gear from the parking area all the way too the water now.....

the walk was not really that bad, it was hot and the bug spray started to melt hahahaha
the marsh area was very wet and the mossies attack you like dive bombers....a couple of areas you sunk 3 ft into the mud...not too bad......

we got to the pond and well it greeted us with its clear blue glow........in the hole it was amazing the vis was good and a person had 50 ft + vis.
we didnt go to far down just played at about 100 ft....was nice to enjoy the cavern again after the long summer of it being really bad.
i found my buddies computer by chance that he had lost on one of his dives when the vis was 2 ft only....
the walk back with our gear was very hot.......as the mossies tried to suck the life from us.....!!!!!
at the end of the day you have to pay the price to dive one of the best caverns in the world......

Are the tree trunks too big to even get a cart by them? I know the rangers were starting to get pissed off at all the people driving down the tramway to drop off gear, so you could thank those people for the blocked access. How is the walk to the sink from the end of the tramway? Last time I was there, you had to be careful where you stepped so you wouldn't sink past your knees in the muck. Some enterprising a ** holes had even dumped bags of concrete in some of the muddier spots. I know the rangers weren't too happy about that either.

the logs are big and i think a person could unload the cart and lift over the logs.....
the swamp is very wet and a person has to watch where they step......
