Yeah sure, that happens to some extent, I'm not a germophobe. But I also don't eat stuff off the ground, and I don't drink strangers' saliva. Yes, you can't live in a sterile bubble, but you also can't ignore the existence of germs altogether. You have to draw the line somewhere in the middle. Putting something in your mouth and sucking on it results in much more efficient transfer of germs than touching something and then picking your nose after a while.

By the way, the pandemic made me grow a habit of only touching public touchscreens, buttons etc. with the back of my knuckles, which I know I won't use for scratching or picking my nose or whatever. I still think it's a useful habit.
