I just got back from three days of diving with Olympus out of Morehead. I had a great time and will definitely be going back. I stayed at the Dive Lodge which is not bad for $25 a night. The boats Midnight Express and Olympus are well set up for the long runs out to the wrecks.
Bottoms temps ran 77-80F all three days. Seas were never bad, varying from calm to 2-3' swells. We did the Aeolus (twice), Spar, Papoose (really the Hutton), Indra, and Suloide. The first two days currents were rather strong on the offshore wrecks but viz was good at 40-60'. On the inshore wrecks (Indra and Suloide) the currents were mild but with a viz sacrifice at 20-30'.
We saw sand tigers on the Papoose and Spar, and lots of lionfish on the Papoose, which was my favorite dive of the trip. Somethings the viz was obscured down to virtually nothing for all the schooling fish around us! Good wrecks, good marine life, good outfit.
OK, I have to go check my calender now to figure out when I can go back.
