Just wondering what folks think about the double braided flex hoses for regs, inflators, and spg's. With the work I do I use them all the time on hydraulics, and never had one fail but have had rubber hoses fail. Seeing them on dive gear express they are about half of what my LDS charges and since I am changing my rig over was considering it. Just never dove them before and wanted to find out any downsides to them as well as what folks like about them

Thanks

I use the hp ones from Edge on my stage bottles and have on 24" on a reg set I use for singles. I have to say I like them. They bend easily on the stages and don't seem to show as much strain as the rubber ones I also use. The longer one I'm still getting used to. I only have one braided lp hose on a stage and so far it's working well. I have also sold a bunch of them with no reports of ruptures. Longer than 40" I will not use and don't sell. Edge does not even have them. They tend to be floaty, can take a set if coiled up for too long, and when used in a hogarthian set up they feel like sandpaper on the back of my neck and grab the little hairs there. Unless wearing a hood.

Other than the HP Miflex hoses, I haven't heard of any problems. They pack nicely for travel. Like Jim, I find the long ones develop a memory, and they are a little scratchy on the back of my neck the rare times I'm not wearing a hood.

Thanks Jim, I was wondering if they were floaty on the longer hose. I did on DGE they have the 84" for regs. And I think the pulling the hair on the back of the neck or my wifes hair getting caught up would not be nice, but for the spg hose or inflator maybe thatwill be the way to go.

Thanks

I liked them OK at first, but I soon reverted back. I found that the smooth rubber is nicer against my skin than the braid... especially the back of my neck.
