Uhh... What kind of sharks are they?

Just curious... is Largo close to Clearwater, St. Pete area? Have you heard of, or know about, Shell Key? Is this in that area? Just curious, cause hubby and I are taking the kids (6 and 8 years) down there in less than 2 weeks. Don't want to wade out too far if the sharkies are there!! Of course, I don't mind them a bit if I'm diving, but don't want to be mistaken for food on the surface!!

The news article did not say what kind or size.

Largo is the next city south of Clearwater. Bradenton is about 30 mile south, just to be safe keep the young uns out of the water early morning and evening-night

Any word on diving the Sugar Barge with these guys around?

I always assume they are around. I have seen shark numerous times on the artificial reefs in the Largo/Clearwater area. I have also seen them in shallow water going along the beach early morning.

Wow! Those look like some biggies!

they sure do. I think there's a real optical illusion effect here due to the lack of scale objects walter mentioned and I wouldn't bet on these being any longer than 6 footers. Maybe spinners or blacktips?

Cdiver... thanks for the info! Will certainly keep the kiddos close (not that I wouldn't anyway!), and out of the water early morn and evening/night. I appreciate the info!
