<<But they are basically cows.>>

That's the point, they are not like cows. Closest plentiful thing in Europe would be bulls. Bison are large like a cow but much faster and switch to freight train mode in a second when some people least expect it.

Correct you if you are wrong? I have no idea what actually happened. Do you?

Why do you assume you are "right"? Have you spent a lot of time in the water with bull sharks? Why would you apparently assume a shark could not swim away if it was uncomfortable? Upon what basis do you surmise that the shark was engaged in self defense?

When an animal eats and consumes a portion of another, I generally would not consider that as self defense, but that is a huge generalization. I don't know what actually happened, nor exactly why, but it does not sound like an accidental or exploratory bite from what little has been reported.
I said correct me if I am wrong in regard to her engaging the shark by entering it's space. I believe I am right to believe this, as that is what I surmised from what I read. If she invaded the shark's space, then it would make sense to me that she caused the contact and result. I may be wrong on this, but I don't believe so.

At this point let’s just be respectful of her tragedy and believe the story that she had just entered the water and encountered the bull shark fishing around and tried to defend herself by extending her hand in self-defence to push it away…
