i would not generally recommend diving in boracay unless you were taking an OW class amidst the touristy areas while enjoying the beach at the same time. but since you are already going to be there i would suggest you go to yapak 2. imho the only decent site in bora.

spoon's right...

asked this question a couple of times before: is it worth lugging all my gear to bora for a couple of singit dives? answer has always been "no"

i might have another project there again in january and again i'm considering trying to singit-dive yapak2, but is it worth lugging all my gear or do i just rent from a local shop?

ahahahahaha...

you know i got "reprimanded" here on the board some time ago because of saying that boracay diving generally sucked (w/c it does)... the guy said it's that we're (pinoys) so spoiled when it comes to diving that what would be an unimaginable paradise to most others (bora diving) would totally suck to us hahahahahahahahaha

"you mean there's only 300 species of fish in that reef? eeeewwww!" hahahahahahaha

boracay diving sucks bigtime!!! im sure its heaven to people who have dived in reefs devoid of corals and sea life. but then again ive been to paradise and back again. anyone who wants to debate with me is welcome to do so:)

That's why I can't wait to dive there, in the Philippines I mean. Where I'm diving, there ain't no corals...water's too cold.

Id rather sunbathe, go to Jonah's, ride the banana boat or snorkle than bring my dive equipment there hehe. sheesh i wanna go to bora.

Amen to that Ish! Boracay is like the Daytona beach of the US. Big time party place but there are better diving locations to offer.

I think we have a very good reason to be spoiled. But I wouldn't dismiss Boracay if a cold water diver has plans to go there and has never been diving in warm water conditions. They'd probably be impressed wherever they went here (excluding Manila Bay!).

PS welcome to scubaboard and the PPD Gerski!

when we bora we usually take this daytrip around the island (about P500 inclusive of lunch)... they take you to some interesting sites where you can snorkel... also stop by puka beach (w/ all the puka shells)... good way to save on bora and still have the whole day occupied
