The way I read your first post, you are outraged that some dive ops would have this rule, and it would be alienating to Europeans.
It would be outrages if a dive shop told people not to drink the day before diving.

... the diving there is shore-based in a rented car.
They might not care when you just rent their tanks but I doubt there are many ops that let you drink before or inbetween dives when you're on their boat or diving with their staff.

Are you still confused by the missing comma? 😂

I say "some dive ops", because I have also dived at shore-based resorts where it works differently, like Buddy Dive in Bonaire. They have a restaurant with a bar onsite. On at least one occasion, I went for a couple of dives in the morning, had a beer with lunch, and then went for a couple more dives in the evening. Looking back, I dunno, there might be a rule against this. But, if such a rule exists, I don't recall hearing about it, and did not observe any attempt to enforce it.
Buddy Dive's waiver form asks you to agree to several things, including:
"Avoid being under the influence of alcohol or drugs while diving. Buddy Dive staff may disqualify me from diving activities if I am under influence or have a hangover."
Maybe you should read the waiver before you sign it! :)

Oh OK. Yeah, I have never encountered such an op. My first post must have been ambiguous, because that's not how they do it on the Belize Aggressor.

Maybe I should!

It’s because you didn’t put commas both before and after “after drinking” so @berndo is still believing that you said:

- if you drink, no diving the day after (the following day)

While I think you meant:

- if you drink, no diving after (that same day of drinking, but no inference for the following day)

The old "let's eat grandma" versus "let's eat, grandma" problem.

I thought I was pretty clear in my post.

I wasn't looking for someone to tell me it was 'OK' but for a general consensus.

Which seems to be "Keep it to the night before and stay well hydrated. If you feel like **** in the morning don't dive."

Which is what I typically do regardless but I have heard varying things. I know a guy who smokes before every dive and swears by it. Personally not my thing, but just wanted to get some info.

"Consensus"??

Try to do this in a country where they execute you for having any amount of drugs on you, just tell them it was "consensus" and see what happens. You will be the guy who will be getting in trouble and causing your buddy and dive mates lots of issues just because you think it was OK by consensuses to drink or take drugs before diving.

It's because he prefaced it by saying 'some' dive ops have that rule.

Where were they from? My short list is: Denmark, UK, Russia, Poland or Germany... in no particular order.
Russia

Thailand has legalized recreational use of marijuana.

The discussion is about fitness to dive. Not about breaking laws.
