Hey guys,

Here's my newby question.

I have a pair of Deep Sea boots that I used primarily for exploring tide pools at Bodega Bay, Calif. The question is... can you stretch boots out? For some reason durring the past few years of sitting in a box they seem to have shrunk. My big toe is cramped. Will they strech back out or could I stuff something in them? Will being in the water lossen them up? If anybody else has delt with this (boots shrinking) maybe you know. Is there a way to store them that this won't happen again?

Thanks from a newby.

The will looses slightly with a little use , get them wet and walk around for a few minutes and see what happens

A little snug is good, if comfy - too loose is bad. Good luck with Terrasmak's suggestion. :)

Wow Shrinkage Mmmmmm.
Agree with posts so far > get them wet and do a walk about.
Better a bit tight then loose.
Would not want to kick out of them on a dive.....
Now totally uncomfortable that is not a good thing.
Good luck and great diving!

I know that leather that's been wet will shrink when drying. I've never really seen ths in dive booties, but maybe. I do not know the brand, etc. Nonetheless, try putting them on wet and see how they feel.

You're not likely to kick loose booties off, but you lose thermal protection, and could just be uncomfortable to wear.

:hmmm: Any chance that your feet have swelled, rather than the booties getting smaller? If there is a chance of that being the case, it could be a serious medical sign. I had a clogged vein in my leg month before last, one foot swelled, and I am lucky that I didn't have a stroke before I finally went to a physician.

How snug is to snug? They will strech in time if neoprene. A shoe strecher will work on width as far as lenght goes it is what it is. Invest in a pair that are comfortable.:D

Booties that are too tight will cause foot cramping. Make sure you have booties that fit.

You definitely want them snug, once they get wet and take in water, they'll get loose.

Wet didn't help. From what I've gathered here on SB neoperene shrinks with time. I bought some Safe Soles. Should help with the rocky California coast. Thanks for the feedback.

Hi,
Booties are too tight will cause your foot cramp, make sure you have try booties that fit and comfort is priority.
