Hi All!
Thought I would post some ineteresting and hopefully helpful news about Bonaire. For those of you visiting the island within the next couple of weeks, it is important to read as there is HOLIDAY INFORMATION BELOW.
BONAIRE EXPERIENCING INCREASED ENERGY COSTS
Gasoline prices as of 18 Apr 2008:
92 octane, NAF 2,02 per liter (regular)
95 octane, NAF 2,05 per liter (super)
The price of the regular is equal to approximately $4.32 per gallon.
Once again Electricity rates on the island are going up, retro active to 1 April 2008. The current price is NAF .36288 per kilowatt, the new price is NAF .41288 Rates almost double last year due to increased rates.
BONAIRE GETTING ANOTHER INTRA ISLAND AIRLINE!!!!
That's right...Rene Winkel, Bonaire pilot and Air Ambulance operator will start flight in about 2 weeks between Bonaire and Curacao. The plane is a nine seater, similar to the Divi plane. The company is EZ Air. You can reach them at +1 599 9 515-3939 or +1 599 780-3939
THREE HOLIDAYS COINCIDE
This year great celebrations will take place on April 30, May 1 and 2. They are Rincon Day/Queens Birthday and Labour Day. Most businesses, banks and government offices will be closed. Grocery stores will be on a shortened day. ATMs will be open. Most restaurants will be open. Bonaire will have MANY parties and celebrations islandwide with the main celebration for DIA DI RINCON will be a great festival on the 30th of APRIL in RINCON!!!
SEVERAL EVENTS TO TAKE PLACE LEADING UP TO DIA DI RINCON
Experience local culture! Check out the Chichi and Bubi Festival
It's a wonderful festival celebration where they elect a "king and queen" of Dia Di Rincon. It is scheduled to take place 26 April, Saturday night between 7pm and 11pm in Rincon.
Also a great Singing festival is scheduled in Rincon on 19 April, starting at around 7pm or so.
ALSO REMEMBER DURING THESE CELEBRATIONS TO BE SAFE AND SMART!!!
