Trusted Traveller gets you through US CBP in under 5 minutes @ YYZ. The related CATSA security screening beforehand may take up to 15 minutes if they are slow, but generally about 5 minutes as well.I'm talking about this past Wednesday when I was told to "have been lucky" to only spend over an hour in line through US CBP. We had some "entitled" Americans taken out of the queue and escorted away after they complained loudly, in a scene that reminded me of the movie Top Secret: I half-expected to hear the firing squad behind the door they were escorted through.
(PS I now have no questions about that Polish guy they killed a while back: I know exactly how that happened.)
I too have been through Miami, Atlanta, and most often Chicago in he last two decades and while they have 3 times longer lines, they also have 5 times more officers who work twice as fast.
Non Trusted Traveller generally takes over an hour to check-in, security screen and do border stuff at normal times. Up to 2 hours at peak times.

was RCMP in Vancouver arrivals. YOU will not see any RCMP at YYZ. If what you witnessed was in the US CBP area (i.e. past CATSA security) then it was US CBP personnel, not Canadian. Welcome to America!
