Hi yall, so I would like to place boltsnaps on both second stages for securing sake. However, the shroud prevents me from placing one at the metal so its a lil bit far, is there a better way to do it than I have already done in the picture? I mean still gotta be able to remove the shroud for washing etc..

Harmful solution, octopus availability tends to zero.

Get rid of the hose protector ("shroud").

But, you shouldn't be bolt snapping the secondary/octo anyway.
Oh because I'm using one of those Scubapro Octo holders... its a pain to get it back into the holder underwater after using it for SMB inflation. I am going to put a necklace on the primary so it hangs at my neck if it gets kicked out, so i may ditch the boltsnap

Keep the primary bolt snap. So you have somewhere to secure it (D ring on bcd) during transport and surface intervals - and so its not flopping around the boat.

Feel like you have this backwards. A more streamlined setup would be putting your backup regulator on a shorter hose on a necklace. Put your primary regulator on a longer hose (40" is pretty common for this) and put a boltsnap on it (not a suicide clip) for clipping off when you're on the surface. In an emergency, donate your primary to the OOG diver and switch to your necklace regulator. If you need to blow an SMB, switch to your necklace regulator and use your primary and then switch back when you're done.

Necklace backup reg for the win!

This ... one wants the backup second stage to be on a short hose and with a bungie necklace. Even with a bungie necklace the second stage can be pulled loose. Doing the above assumes an out of air diver will take your primary second stage.

The primary second stage can have a clip on it. The purpose of it being on clip is two fold. First, when on land it can be secured so not to be flopping around on the deck. Second, when doing a deco stop and switching to another regulator it can be secure not to be floating around in open water.

If you do not want to use the above system get a different holder for the backup second stage. Do not use a hard connection.
