try running a pencil up and down inside the groove to lubricate it

Thanks mate but it's not a lube problem. There's 8 ends total in the set I got, 5 of them couldn't be smoother(all one ended clips), 1 is just ok and 2 are unserviceable.They have a LOT of sideways slop, it's definitely a manufacturing problem.

But one shouldn't have to lubricate brand new equipment, especially when it comes at a premium like x-deep

Exactly, I paid $25 each for these bad boys. It's very disappointed, especially when there's supply issues in Australia and these 2 double enders were very hard to find.
