We took the Giant Stride to the oil rigs this morning for what was expected to be calm seas. We didn't get that but we did enjoy some of the best visibility I've seen in SoCal for a long time. We could see completely across the rigs at any point during the dives. At Platforms Ellen and Eureka there wasn't a lot of marine life but it was still nice to dive in blue water. It was also quite warm at 60° with a moderate current and surge.

Can’t wait to get out to the oil rigs. We dove the Ruby E today down in San Diego with some of the worst vis I’ve had in a long time (2-3 feet max?).

Nice wide angle shots. . .

Two weeks ago on the Oil Rigs, you couldn't get good clarity viz like that unless you went deep into the cold zone around 40msw and beyond, at 12°C.

Now, Phil, certainly you know that water isn't blue or green or brown. It is clear! Tee hee.

I'm curious to read other dive reports along the coast. I was 1.5 miles off Ventura Coast for a sailing lesson, and the instructor (also a diver) and I both noted how awesome the water looked.
