The reason I was considering BS is because I live in New Palestine which is only 40 minutes or so from BS. It sure sounds like the owners of BS are facing a near mutiny among the diving community. I assume it all has to do with doubling the daily fee to $20. Any other issues with BS?

France Park is definitely a possible site for me. Kokomo is around an hour fifteen - 1.5 hours or so for me. How does the diving compare to BS?

Haigh quarry is $20. It is very popular around here. Are there other issues with Blue Springs?

My dive buddy and I live on the far eastside of Indy. I have NAUI and he is military trained. We are both doing PADI recert with OW dives May 20-21. We plan on diving just about every weekend. PM me Divin'Hoosier if you want. Here is a website I found while searching for dive sites. http://www.southernindianascuba.com/Localdives.html

Given any thought to France Park? Not sure where you live, other than IN. I think most of the regulars from last year won't be going to BS.

I am interested in what Rick's income from BS for this year will be. Personally I think he is cutting his throat. I have even heard of a couple dive shops talking about not going.

Oops. I thought France Park was in Kokomo. It looks like it's actually in Logansport. That makes it a good hour farther for me each way that BS. Also, according to http://www.dtmag.com/dive-usa/divingusa.html France Park is only 30 feet deep. Is that true? For those who have dived FP before, please chime in on how it compares to BS. I know BS maxes out at 60+.

France Park is a fun dive. It is only 30 ft deep and there isn't nearly the 'wrecks' to see there. I'd say on a good day the vis is considerably better than BS. They also have Paddlefish. Check out their site below:

I don't know that I'd make it an every other weekend trip - but it's good for a few times a year. This time of year I'm guessing the vis would be really good - as not too many divers are braving the cold and the swimming there isn't open.

Whoever told you BS maxes out at 60+ ft must have been trying to sell you an AOW course there. Only way you'll see 60 ft is if you dig a hole deep enough to stand in. Deepest I've seen there is around 55 ft.

Hello, there, Jim. Good to meet you. Our shop is at Blue Springs pretty much every weekend. We'll be up there this sunday for a work day to clean up and help Rick get BS ready for season, and we'll start taking students up every weekend from the 1st of June through mid to late October. If you're thinking of coming up, give us a call or let me know. I'm usually with the groups. We typically have anywhere from 10 to 30 students both days, as well as another 10-20 recreation divers that are there to get some bottom time and do a little work around the quarry or help out. We grill out and have drinks available, and we always welcome anyone who wants to stop by. We're usually on the north beach, and you can look for the cars with the Scuba Shack logos or ask Rick or his staff if we're around.

France park is`shallow and not as much to see there there is lots of fish. i would be up for new paris before a 2.5 hr road trip.I live in Morristown IN and will get with you if you want. Just let me know.

Hey, you're right down the road! My wife and I get out to Morristown every so often to enjoy the buffet at the Bluebird. My wife was born and raised in Carthage.

You mention "new paris" in your post? I don't follow? What's "new paris"?

Saturday is still looking good for me. I'll probably make my final decision on Thursday given what the weekend is shaping up to look like at home.

I believe he's talking about Natural Springs Resort in New Paris, OH right next to Richmond, IN.
