this past Saturday, a buddy of mine (HOward) and i headed out to Blue SPring
(Orange City, FLorida) to do some intro cave (the daylight zone goes down to
maybe 70, 80 feet). figured i'd practice diving dry and with doubles.

water was perfect; flow was running A LOT faster than usual...and usually it's
pretty darn fast

we did two dives, max depth was 117 feet. got to the "source" of the spring
at the bottom. the water was coming out of there like a firehose. STONES
got thrown up to the ceiling.

it's a nice dive for me to "work with" my narcosis. i can feel the buzz around 100
feet, and at 115 or so it's like i've drank a couple of beers. feel good, happy,
euphoric, like nothing can go wrong (right)

the place was crowded with snorkelers and tubers. getting in and out of the water
with gear on was a big deal; we had to stand around while two lines of people
made their way in and out of the water.

also, it's hard to gear up with doubles at Blue Springs. the walk over to the water
entry is a bit of a stretch for my injured back... but we made it, me using a dolly
and donning the doubles by the water

as an aside, it's been a tough two weeks for my equipment:

1. light flooded in Roatan
2. i dropped a tank on my SPG and busted it in Roatan
3. someone stole my mask on way back from Roatan
4. i ripped my left wrist (latex) seal on my dry suit putting it on at Blue Spring

and the beat goes on....

Sounds like you should have avoided Roatan... it was an expensive trip.

I thought about going up to Blue Springs and do some training dives... but... with my surgery mended back... I'm still not up to carrying my tanks all the way to the water... long haul...

Note to self : NO BACK SURGERY!

I guess your LDS will be glad you did the dives :D.

And you didnt call to say you were in the neighbourhood, both you and Jenny, what is this world coming to?

I dunno, Andy... I'm kinda having a hard time feeling sorry for you. After all, you DID get to go to Roatan !

Naw, I am sorry you've had rotten luck with your dive gear lately. Especially that some low-down jerk that calls itself a diver would steal a fellow diver's mask. That stinks.

BTW did you post a dive report on your Roatan trip? I've been out of commission lately, and haven't surfed SB as much as I like. I am anxious to come back to Florida soon and meet some more Conchs. I also need to see Simon, the Bullas & Sharkbait again.
