Just a quickie update for anyone planning a trip to Blue Lake, Utah.

We did 5 dives there this weekend as part of a Intro To Tech & Dry Suit courses.
Temp was a very comfortable 74 degrees in the water, 35 on land (with flurrries).
Vis was pretty bad, I'd say 1-2 ft max, often near zero on the bottom.. a lot of silt has been stirred up.

Still, fun to get out practice in doubles and get more familiar with dry suit diving. Nothing builds skills like poor(er) conditions (so I keep telling myself). Dove the White Fusion and its growing on me more and more every dive - nice suit! I will say that now that I'm diving dry I can't see going back.... sooo nice to get out and be... dry! Water was so warm, didn't wear a hood or gloves, just the dry suit with a set of medium weight thermals underneath.

Other than the seven of us there were two other groups of two who dove Fri/Sat.

And I thought Colorado lakes had poor viz!!!!! Warm water or not..no thanks!!!! I like to at least see my feet......

I am wondering if anyone has had good visibility at Blue Lake within the last few years? I think it has been ruined for divers by whoever put the Tialapia in the lake!

I was there on March 14th and vis was at least 15'. There were a number of groups there when I arrived and a bunch that were leaving. I believe FUNtastic Scuba was leaving, Dive Addicts had a Dry Suit group there as well as an OW group, then there was a group from Idaho too. There were about 20 divers in the water. Surface water temps were around 75 degrees and it was about 80 down closer to the bottom. It was a nice dive and the vis was much better then I expected. I'm planning on going back up in April.
