I opted to try the beach this morning instead of fighting crowds at the bridge. How was it?

A few from Thursday night....

Thanks for the reply --- I dove there a few years ago when they were doing construction off to the left. I WILL BE diving in the afternoon but I was interested in doing a night dive there also this time around. I'm sure that a night dive at low tide wouldn't be worth the effort.

You could do it and give yerself a navigation specialty - if you can remain within a half mile of yer entry point without surfacing to see where the heck you are. :)

Nice images, Bimini.. love the nudi!

BHB dive Saturday with everyone else in the area....water temp started at 75 and went down to 73 at the beginning of slack tide. Viz 15 and milky except behind the every stroke sandkicker where it was less than 5 ft. Still a good dive and I got to use my new camera, a Canon G7x.IMG_0035.jpgIMG_0046.jpg

What dive shop around the bridge will fill a tank that hasn't been 02 cleaned with Nitrox? I've ran into a shop or two in the area that either does partial pressure or even one that does premix'd fills but for some reason still requires the tank to be o2 cleaned as if they were doing partial pressure.

Probably Pura Vida on Singer Island a few blocks east of the bridge--turn right at the gas station, then left.

We went yesterday, Wed., 3-25, to find low viz of 8-12 ft or thereabouts, and 75 degree water. Saw a little Nurse Shark out on the snorkel trail, and a Stargazer between the shopping carts and mirror wreck.

I spoke with a friend of mine at ERM..ideally, we locate the Dredging operation most likely to be responsible for the high silt load and report this back to ERM [ Environmental Resource Management ].

Jim Abernethy just told me that the beach renourishment project going on at the Breakers Resort beach, has the dredge taking sand off a 30 foot deep area, and whatever is getting dropped on the beach at Breakers, is silting up the 60 foot reefs badly.....vis down to 15 to 20 feet...So we need to establish whether or not they are taking sand that is so small in diameter that it is not appropriate for beach renourishment --that it is stealing from the Palm Beachers, because it will disappear with the very first storm..and because it is gong to silt out and destroy the local 60 for reefs.

If anyone knows of any OTHER Dredging operations going on that could be factoring in, please let me know.
