Anybody else notice how many turtle egg shells there were yesterday? I first saw a few near the snorkel trail and that boat, but then saw them scattered throughout the whole area we dived except under the bridge..

I did notice the turtle eggs. Came in on the current?

And as far as the Thanksgiving dive/ meet n greet.. How about the weekend before? High tide is 11:45 am. Much more doable to get there early, get a dive in and then enjoy each others company the rest of the day. What say you?

That will definitely work for us. Time & date sounds good. We are in! Hope we can get other trolls & troll wannabes interested. Ummmmmm mur & reebs! Always good with turkey!

Speaking of reebs hope you enjoyed your reebs at the super secret dive bar after the dive yesterday. Thanked our special FE instructor for joining us. He is awesome. Let's do it again. Next time we'll try the apple reeb!

I saw hundreds...but didn't know that's what they were...why would they be underwater stuck to things?

Sounds great!

Regretting not staying behind to join y'all. I got into impossible traffic and missed my planned event by an hour. Oh well, I still got to see a loggerhead nest hatch out later on (and so did Jenny!)

JimW:
Cool Jellyfish, I'd like to know the ID if you find out.
Go Jenny!
May try Monday or hold off till Thursday night.
John

I may be cooerced in to going on Monday...

We might, er; let's make that a little stronger, probably will go Monday--Jenny, John? AND, Thursday too!! I am hoping the viz continues to improve!

Tim, it's a late tide-take off a little early.........5:23PM hi tide. btw, Force E night dive on Thursday--Pura Vida on Friday.

I did see some broken shells during the dive--it didn't occur to me they were turtle eggs. Any further info?? Would it be washed out nests? Debby or Jenny?

I will probably dive at least once this week!

Consider yourself cooerced!!!!
Kelly and I will likely be there well in advance of slack high to allow for holiday parking lot madness.
Leaving only the eternal question: east or west
With the possibility of 2 of the 3 J's in action there is no wrong way.

Jellyfish Magnet

image.jpgHaving been stung my nearly every type of jellyfish at the bridge or at least the same kind several hundred times over I will be on the lookout for the Bonaire banded box jelly given recent unusual jelly sightings.
Given my propensity to only look down in macro focus mode this may not result in the best encounter.....

Fortunately, BBJ's are small and slow--total length with 4 tentacles is about 6-8 inches. They are easily avoided and usually seen only at night in the top few feet of water. They are deep during daytime. The sting is NOT small though, but not generally life threatening. Might be a trip to the hospital though. Many trips to Bonaire have resulted in 0 stings for us. I have heard the screams of someone stung though. There is a box jelly up here(aka Sea Wasp), but I've not seen them here.......They are attracted to light as is the Bonaire version.

Don't worry though--the wierd jellys seem to be attracted to the Diva and me! AND, uh; jeez--the bridge IS the top few feet of water!!

I know from Ned and Anna DeLoach's blog the one they saw and photographed in Bonaire or St Vincent was moving pretty fast.
Very cool looking jelly but I will happily pass to have it not added to the already impressive list of stinging bits that usually light me up as the tide goes out.
Never know what will turn up at the bridge.
Now apparently I will have to add turtles laying eggs to my list of "may be seen on exit" to the night dive list:D
John
Oh, possibly the fact I carry enough video lights to look like a small sun may explain my jelly magnetism........
