I normally see her on the last 50 psi of air of a 3 hour dive because she likes to time it for the nudies.
Awesome spotter for the last few gasps of air left in my tank....

On a different subject, I was about to conclude that I could finally tell a dusky from a banded jawfish. Now I'm back to being confused. Are there also spotfin jawfish at the bridge??

Thanks for the info. I live in Tampa and just plan to drive over there on a weekday to dive without it being as crowded as a weekend, doesnt have to be next week though.

Force E's nite dive schedule for BHB is on their facebook page. Tides are at www.saltwatertides.com Use the tides for the Port of Palm Beach. Force E has free tide tables and a dive map of BHB at the Blue Heron Blvd store a couple of blocks west of the bridge.

So let me ask a couple of questions. You can't dive at the BHB at night without a permit? Is that only if you dive from the Park? What if you go by boat? Where can you get these permits?

There are no time restrictions if diving from a boat. The restrictions on night diving from the park require a permit, and you have to be out of the park by a certain time. Permits are only issued to dive shops, or organizations, that register with the park, and provide liability insurance naming the park as an additional insured. The shop, or organization, sponsoring the night dive has to have a rep on site while the dive is going on.

Force E has regular night dives that they sponsor, and they do them for free. You have to register with them in advance.

We dove the bridge this morning and vis was maybe 20ft. Not fabulous but still a great dive.

Pura Vida Divers on Singer Island also has the permit and dives frequently at night. You can check their facebook page or call them for dates. They have free tide charts and maps of the bridge too. They can also provide dive guides if you're new to the area and would like an orientation.

Force E has regular night dives that they sponsor, and they do them for free. You have to register with them in advance.

We try to do BHB night dives about twice a month. We will post here when we put together the next one.

I think technically, you could rent a stand up paddle board from Pura Vida, bungie some gear on it, and paddle the board ( even sitting or lying down on it) from Lake Park Marina or any place you know you could put in that is closer. As long as you come in by the water, and have what is technically a boat, you don't need a permit.
And both Pura Vida and Force E are there for permit dives at night.

Daytime is really better for most people, until they really get to know the park...and for quite a few species found there, night time is the hardest time to spot them.

Don't Miss Shark Night Thursday June 21 at 7:00pm

Hey SCUBA peeps. I was out at the Blue Heron Bridge last night sightseeing with a snorkel. I found this thread and thought it would be the perfect place to invite all of you to Shark Night, which is being held at the Florida Freedivers Store at 905 US Hwy 1 #A at 7:00pm tomorrow night (Thursday June 21st).

Don't mind that it is at a Freediving Venue. We would love to see you. The event is sponsored by both the store and the Palm Beach Freedivers club. It is free and it will be very informative. Please spread the word among your community.

I really like the first shot, I've never seen one that size completely out before.
I wonder if the spots are a transitional phase as I don't remember them on others with similar head markings.

Congratulations Kevin you have found something rarer than the frogfish. Saw my 1st Spotfin (found by SK) last year. Found my own a month ago. They have been seen both West & East side BHB but not too often.
