For the money I've never had another light even come close to touching this one:

Intova Super Nova :eyebrow:

Really?

Well its 3 times the price.
Also it has a beam angle of 33 degrees compared to the moded IST which is about 8.
Simple math shows that the IST will be about 5 times brighter in that 8 degrees.
And P4 Cree LEDs? Shish when was this light built? 3 years ago?

Lets face it, they are very different light.

Should you want a 500 lumen light at 33 degrees I am sure I could build you something.

I now have another highly modified dive light for sale.
This is a Ultrafire W200. Its a copy of the Tilltec W30 AKA AElight W30.
It uses a aluminium head and plastic ( probably Delrin) body and has 3 O rings sealing the battery compartment.
The lens is nearly 6mm thick glass and its weakest point. ( I have used 3.2mm thick glass with a much wider diameter to 50 meters).
Its rated to 200meters although I have no way to verify this.
It has done one test dive to 57 meters and performed faultlessly.

Anyway the modded version uses a Cree R2 LED driven at 1000ma.
It now takes 2 18650 Li Ion rechargeable or 4 CR123 primarys!
I can make it so it has a 5 degree beam up to 20 degrees although I find the 10 degree to my liking.
Run time at full out put should be about 4-5 hours on 2x2500ma 18650 cells. It will give no warning before shutting off due to low batteries.
Length is 200mm
Bottom pic shows W200 on left and IST on the right.
As you can see the W200 is slightly brighter and slightly wider angle.

Cost is $300NZ ( about $170us)

I should point out this is a prototype so has had little testing. I feel confident in it though and warranty it for 6 months.
Hey .. we can post in this thread again!

Thank you for the light :)
The W200 is very bright and I like the tight beam , and Packhorse is a good person to deal with .. I left positive feedback

u have the w200's left or IST's left?

BTW I love the IST I got from you, used on my last dive trip, everyone wanted to know where I got the little bugger! so I told them here :D

Thanks!

Hi Packhorse,

Just letting you know that I was diving with your light last Sunday and today. The light is great. For simple night reef diving IST can happily be a primary light. I am putting my UK C8 away into the far corner as your one is brighter, better, smaller. Very tight white beam, good penetration, etc.

Thanks.

P.S. Those yellow rings around the lighthead are real pain. I have already lost one of them. This is the case where cosmetic stuff goes in front of the function, I guess. I am going to remove them altogether. Hopefully it does not change anything in the way the light works.
