I am just very proud that you all are willing to speak up...it can get lonely supporting him.

There are more of us "out there" than I thought, though. My Main issue is that the nay-sayers and "malcontents" often are not coming up with a better plan or any viable actions, so it seems so futile just to complain. Celebrate the positive. This is making us very happy here in Hawaii, and there is a sense that "we did it together".

Put me down as a supporter, I think he'll be remembered as a great prez. I'm sick and tired of giving my fuel tank dollars to the middle east who'd love to kill any one that doesnt think like they do. Can't we grow corn and have everyone buying fuel from the good ol' USA. It would give the farmers some money and keep alot of dollars in the US instead of the billions spent overseas that seem to end up in fanatical muslims hands.

I tried but I just can't keep my mouth shut. :shakehead Yes, thanks to GW for signing the NWHI monument documents. Credit where credit is due after all and that's why I started this thread. But now you're talking about fuel dollars? That's different. You don't think that US oil companies are getting a huge chunk of every fuel dollar you spend? And everyone knows who owns those companies. Giving HUGE tax breaks to oil companies while they are making record profits is not helping much either. Especially when we are creating record deficits and cutting spending on school lunches.

If you don't like sending fuel dollars to the Middle East how can you support their US partners like the Bush family?

"Forward thinking?" You mean like being the last leader on the planet to believe that global warming even exists and still doing nothing about it now that he admits it does?

"insight?" Like thinking that the generals were wrong about how to invade Iraq and Rumsfeld was right? Like thinking the Iraqi people would all fall in lockstep with us and we would use their oil money to rebuild the country in months?

Yes, the oil companies do make a profit. So does anybody in a successful business. However, if you look at where the majority of our fuel dollars go, you will likely see that your local government gets a huge chunk, like nearly half. I don't like paying a fortune to fuel my Honda, either, but let's look at the whole picture.

I will not even get into a debate about the war with you. I will just say one thing: If some folks had their way, we'd simply overlook the way people are tortured in countries such as Iraq, sit in a corner and sing Kumbaya and ignore it. Let's stick our heads in the sand and believe that all is well. It's not. You want to talk about the mistakes our presidents make? They have all made them. Bin Laden would have been in custoy prior to Bush taking over, had not one certain president taken appropriate action. We all have short memories.

Please, there's no reason for us to find out through Scubaboard how people feel about the US president.

I really, really want to agree and/or disagree with (as well as like and/or dislike) people for their knowledge and attitudes regarding scuba and their manner in discussing and informing with regard to such things.

People, myself most definitely included, feel very strongly about politics and this president in particular. Please let's not lose sight of each other and why we're here through focusing on our bigotry and intolerance. Let's not use this as a soapbox to promulgate our own. I'll try not to share mine. I really don't want to know yours. Not here.

Besides, we've all agreed not to. TOS and so on and so forth...
