I just don't log dives
I've got a Mobby's Drysuit, and added dry-gloves that mount with plastic rings/o-ring arrangement.

The bad part is that the fittings have detached from the drysuit and the gloves on various occaisong (always when attaching or removing the gloves), and when they do work, are very difficult to separate after a dive.

If I grease the o-rings very well right before using, they come apart OK, but I don't like the random disconnects from the suit or gloves.

The good part is that when they work, they're very warm, dry and comfortable.

Does anybody have any suggestions on what I can do to make the gloves behave better, or if there are any dry gloves on the market that have a more reliable/easier to use attachment?

When they work, they're great, so I'm not sure if I'm missing something, or it's just a bad design.

Thanks!

Terry

You could get gloves that use latex seals and do away with the rings.

Or you could get the rings that twist to lock together.. I think Si Tech makes these.

I've got the Si Tech rings. They're what's giving me a problem.

Who makes the twist-lock?

Oh.. um.. Nordic Blue has their RoLock system, maybe that's what I was thinking of ;)

WebMonkey,
I don't believe you are supposed to "grease" the rings. I use a little spit and they are suppposed to be tight. I had the same problems with rings pulling out of the sleeves but put permanent rings instead. My hands are tight going thru so I end up making them as small as possible and never force them. The O.S.rolling lock release is the best system for breaking the seal when taking them off. Good Luck

I heard (maybe read?) that also, but if I don't lube the o-rings, I almost need pliers to get the gloves off.

I just ordered a pair of the DUI dry gloves with latex seals that seal on top of the latex seals for the drysuit. I was tempted to go with the zip seals, but I'm still chicken when it comes to deco'ing in a ziplock bag :)

Any comments on the gloves I just ordered as far as what to do / not do with them? I've heard the advice about putting a piece of thick material or stir stick under the drysuit seal so you can dribble air into the gloves. What works best?

WM,
The roller ring on the cuff unscrews the seal so they willslip off. This far and away beats the other methods and doesn't pop the glove.
