Best way to stow a backup light on my left D-ring

The direction the opening of the bolt snap is facing on the ring....

in: opening facing the diver, attached from the outside of the ring

out: opening facing away from the diver, attached from the inside of the ring

The gate is out on the light in the picture because it is easier to get the light hooked in that way. The ring that the light is hooked to is part of the tri-glide and sits tightly against the webbing. So sliding the bolt snap between the webbing and the ring makes it easy to attach. Make sense?
