So, this is probably a stupid question, but here it goes: I'm taking my Zeagle Zena with me to Hawaii in Feb, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to pack it. Do you just lay it flat on the bottom of the suitcase? Do you fold it? Roll it? If you fold/roll it, does the inflator hose go on the inside? Outside?

It's lived on a hanger in my closet all it's life (when not in use) and I don't want to hurt it...

heheh

i have it kinda laying flat in my case but i put stuff like knickers and/or tshirts around the breakable stuff like inflator hose or dump valves

so far the baggage handlers havent broken anything... although the continential crew in guam last year def tried their hardest

enjoy your trip

I have a Zeagle Stiletto. I lay it flat on the bottom of the suitcase and then stuff everything I can inside it. It seems to take up less room than folding the sides/harness down on top and then packing stuff on top of that. Like Almitywife, I put T-shirts around the inflater hose. I use an Atomic SS1 [inflator/octo combo] that gets removed and goes in the regulator case.

Our bags are softsided but nothing inside has been damaged. I keep my fingers crossed.

I usually remove the corrugated hose from the BC itself, since it just looks to me like packed in a bag it could get pulled/stressed.

It also seems to pack a little easier, as it gives some options as to how to fit everything into the bag.

(I dive a BP/W, but did the same with my Balance when I had that.)

I've always just laid it flat on one side of the suit case(I use a middle size hard Samsonite for my diving gear when traveling---for 2 reasons, (1) it gives great protection ie a hard covering for the gear & (2) it does not spell out DIVE GEAR ENCLOSED to anyone in the airline business)......I've always made sure the hose is flat & not 'kinked' or squeezed & always wind up folding skins, placing masks, booties etc etc inside it where room is available.....Just use your head, btw, this method has worked on probably 25 occasions(when we travel to the house on Roatan, I keep my 'stuff' stored in the bedroom closet so I've not had to pack for that trip in over 10 years) since Dec of '85....What's really tuff is when we used to fly to one place & had to pack for 4 divers....Thank goodness the kids are grown & pack for themselves..lol........good luck.............
