For future referenced, WD40 is a lot easier than acetone.
Maybe some baby oil. Just don't be seen hauling it by the case into your hotel room.
You diddy really go there did you?

I call this thread “101 creative ways to surprise yourself”; a treasure of dark humor

Every time I read threads like these, I am re-confirmed in my decision to dive with a wetsuit.
Being at the early stages of my drysuit diving “career” and haven’t graduated to a p-valve yet.. I look at my future in both horror and confusion; but I’d take that over the uncomfort of “tightness” I get from thick wetsuits (anything more than 3mm triggers my autistic brain)
All the choices are tough, or dive tropical only (I wish) 🤷🏽‍♀️

NSFW highlights (for the record, I’m drunk, please don’t ban me):
  • Messed up my routing in cold water, pissed myself (long deco).
  • Messed up my routing in warm water, pissed myself (too far back in the cave).
  • Duckbill valve failed, pissed myself.
  • Filled the duckbill valve with silicone to convert balanced p-valve to unbalanced. Almost circumcised myself at depth - catheter barb stuck against foreskin at -5 atm, yes there will be loads of blood. No you cannot relieve yourself in pain to relieve the pressure, not even if you fill your suit with gas like a balloon, hold onto the wreck and go feet up.
  • Downsized by accident to a small catheter size in the winter (so small I got strange looks in the shop). Couldn’t get it up after diving in the summer, wondered if I got bent or old. Then I realised my catheter is too small and it squished everything.
  • Catheter detached as there was a small kink in hose routing, pissed myself.
Yes I’m a muppet. No I would not dive without a P-valve 🙄🥴 .

A long list of things that go wrong. Had the duck bill failure. Had the too small cath and spent the entire dive feeling like I couldn't kick properly. Had the too big cath and spent the dive feeling the glue unpeel slowly and not daring to piss. Kinked the tip and had a balloon of piss to manage on the deck trying to be discreet. Still won't dive without plumbing in though.

Don't get discouraged, diving with a drysuit has many benefits. The issue I had was this was my first time diving with a catheter that had glue. The catheter's I dove with before were simple roll on's that you tape and those you can easily take off, but they also have the tendency to easily come off while diving. The glue catheter's stay on better but as I quickly discovered, don't get hair in them. After that experience, I've haven't made the same mistake. I hope that my experience will benefit others.

All that to say don't let it discourage you from diving drysuit.
