My husband and I would like to take an extended trip to the Texas coast - Houston to Corpus Christie areas but would like to do so during the better scuba dive weather window. We took such a trip to Florida a couple years ago, during, we found out, the worst dive months of the year, due to the prevailing winds. Looking for recommendations.

Unless you are going to charter a boat out to the rigs, or charter the Fling out the the Flower Garden Banks, you would likely prefer going back to the FL panhandle. We have lots of brown water near shore.

Watching the thread myself to see other thoughts.

I spent the winter in Rockport Texas hoping to find some diving. Most diving I did do involved driving 3+ hours INLAND. My ONE salt water dive in the area had vis so bad I couldn't even read my computer pressed right up to my mask. From what I've heard the summer months are better but I'll be in Maine by June.

I AM scheduled for a dive trip to the Flower Gardens in a few weeks but many trips get cancelled due to weather.

I plan on wintering in Florida next year!

The best time for diving the Texas coast is usually late summer early fall. Late summer the winds die off for calm seas but it can be a little warm for some people as fall kicks in the winds don'''t pick up much but the temps moderate some.
