A couple of friends and myself are considering a wreck trip to Moorehead City. Is there a better time of the year when the chances of getting blown out are less? I've dove a little farther south at Myrtle and know how fast things can change but was wondering if there was a better time for viz and not getting blown out.

Summer is really your best bet for overall conditions. You're a little less likely to get blown out during the summer. The unfortunate reality is that the Atlantic is going to do what its going to do and you're never guaranteed. Ideally you should plan a week (or more) in Morehead City. This will increase your chances of getting out as sea conditions can often change rapidly from day to day.
