1. What the word and concept of "trim" means (no comments please on the fact that I should have learned it before my card arrived in the mail), and why it is important for even recreational divers.
2. That most of the people on the board (at least in Florida, I can't speak for the rest of the country/world) are ready and happy to meet new buddies and share their experiences/knowledge.....lurking in the shadows is not necessary!

No matter how much I know or what I have done there is always something more to learn and to do.

Visability and cold are relative.

What ever you want to do there are lots of ways to do it.
Some are really dumb and dangerous.
Several are so-so to ok.
A few are really good.

You have the right to do what you want, but Please, Know What You are Doing!

When you cannot dive, talk about diving. :D

2. Some of this DIR junk isn't half bad.
Hmm. I see a future signature quote in the making here....

The best bit of advice I have received on Scuba Board was the recommendation of an instructor.

1. Using the search function to find some great information about my own areas of interest.

2. Scubaboard allows me to immerse myself in diving information totally unlike the limited scope, sales-pitched diving magazines.

3. Genuine responses to questions (whether you want that level of honesty or not).

4. Communicating with like-minded individuals

. . . is a lot more about:

- DIR;
- Wings;
- Safety kits;
- SMB's; and
- the range of opinions people hold on every conceivable subject.

But being able to make much better informed decisions is the real value.

1 - there are no stupid questions
2 - search before you ask - there's a lot of stuff already in the archives
3 - people here know a lot
4 - never mention p*ny bottles
5 - never try and eat anything bigger than your head

This actually came from the last thread like this that I found a long long time ago.

1.) When shaving only rinse the blade in cold water. That not only cured my razor burn but I also added a cold water faucet to my shower. It's actually one of those 'instant-hot' faucets that I tapped into the cold water and mounted.
2.) BP&W's are the way to go

1. A buddy is only an email away

2. I found out where to mount all the "extra" I have bought

3. The total amount of experience on this board is vantastic

4. People who live and dive in Florida have an unfair advantage on those of us who live in the middle of the country!
