OK - I know this is an old thread. I appreciate all of the advice provided here. However, one thing that I don't understand is - where do you tote all of this stuff when you are on your dive?????

I'm thinking 1 of 2 things - either get some PVC pipe and make some storage tubes to strap to the tank, or - get a couple of straps that look like lead shot weight belts and use those as "tank pockets" to store some of this stuff. My new BC doesn't have pockets (Oceanic Excursion).

Thanks Navy OnStar for a great post! I think I've read most of the posts, didn't see anything about the color of the SMB. Safety orange or Hi-Viz yellow, do you have a preference? A couple of deck hands both told me yellow is the way to go, though when I was in the Marine Corps the only color I saw was orange.

Somewhere in this thread is a link to some tests that were performed in this regard. The yellow SMB is much more visible at a distance than the orange. I know Halcyon now has a large, closed 6-foot yellow SMB.
