What are some other great shore dive destinations besides Bonaire? I have been to Bonaire and would love to go back, but it is a hike to get there.
Is there any place else that comes close?
I am not opposed to boat diving, I just find I appreciate the freedom of shore diving more and i associate boat dives with greater expense. Thanks

Curacao, though while flights may be a little better it's not less of a hike. Perhaps Utila or Roatan, at least for shore div ing on site.

All the dives here are on grand Cayman

My favorite dives are on the North East Coast (Babylon area) although these are somewhat remote and come into the adventure category.
Next best would be the area around the Turtle Farm/Lighthouse point. Not as dramatic but easier to access.
Least best would be the popular West End sites of Eden Rock,Devils Grotto and Sunset House (actually I like the dive at Sunset House)

And to gratuitously bump a couple of my posts ..........

I also vote Grand Cayman. It's my favorite shore diving destination and I've been to Bonaire too. The terrain is much more dramatic in GC than in Bonaire. No need for a boat there. There are many shore dive sites from George Town on up to West Bay. Resorts such as Sunset House and Cobalt Coast open up their house reefs to the public. My personal favorite spot is Turtle Reef at the Cracked Conch Restaurant (dive shop downstairs). I've got a bunch of write ups of shore diving on GC at: Virtual Tourist and links to travelogues with photos of dive shop facilities here. Have fun!!!

We only shoredove for a week on Curacao. And it's a lot easier to get to from the states.
