I highly recommend Blackbeard's. My husband and I got engaged on a Blackbeard's trip in Feb. 2006. The Gulf Stream Eagle mentioned above sounded great since we're in N. Fl we could drive instead of fly to board it but the prices were a LOT more. Even if we didn't look for a reasonable flight this would be more than Blackbeard's. When we flew to Blackbeards we were living in Indiana and by looking ahead we were able to get very reasonable flights.

I like Nekton, Blackbeard also but Nekton was more comfortable

I did a Blackbeard's cruise in the Bahamas last year. For the cruise, plane ticket, tips & spending money, I spent a total of about $1800. I had a great time on board, but will warn you that the accomadations are a bit spartan. The 65' sailboats can carry up to 22 passengers (up to 6- 8 people/ cabin). The cruise I went on had only 9 passengers, so room wasn't a huge issue. The food was good & other than a little tension between a couple of the crew members, they were all great. I am going to do a cruise in May with Explorer ventures with another local diver. It is only slightly more expensive and has a larger ship & carries fewer passengers (max. 18). Like the others have said, how much you pay depends on where you want to dive & what kind on amenities you are looking for. If you don't mind roughing it with up to 21 other people then perhaps Blackbeard's may be for you. If you perfer something with more services there is any number of other companies (nekton, Explorer Ventures, Aggresor & so on). Hope this helps a bit.
Second Blackbeard's if you recognize the spartan - but safe - accomodations. Can't beat the price.

No, My wife and I are going on our honeymoon for our 3 year anniversary and will be doing the Blackbeards Liveaboard experience. I received the email from Blackbeards and thought that I would pass along the information. Sorry for the confusion.

The reason for my post was the fact that this was your first post on Scubaboard.

You did not have a introduction post and no public profile information. This is the operating mode of spammers.

I haven't been diving much and am relatively new to the sport, but I wanted to gather all the information i could to make sure I hit the best vacation spots available. I noticed that a liveaboard is a very neat way to spend a week or so scuba diving. I haven't seen much however on relative prices and locations for these trips. I was wondering what were some of the best liveaboard experiences, what is the approximate price per person, and where it departs/returns to. Thanks for any information. Judson

Since you are located in So Carolina, I think the lowest cost and best dive trip option would be one of the Nekton trips out of Fort Lauderdale. Did the Cay Sal itinerary which was great.

where are you flying from? i have used www.kayak.com for good flight info. their are newer airlines now servicing FPO for the Blackbeard's trips...plus I saw 100 off on Rodale's Scuba Diving for trips thru February so you can go for 21 dives for just 799.00 for the week plus airfare, etc....
