Best cold water regulators?

I have been told that the sherwood blizzard is the best cold water reg.
Some say the scubapro Mk 17 is almost unfreezable, Which would be the best over all.
Or is there Somthing better?
I want somthing that will breathe well in ice cold conditions as well as tropics.

I've been testing the MK17/S600 here in Alaska. I've not yet had any problems. Although I do miss the swivel

I don't know if I would say best cold water reg, but I use a Mares MR22/Abyss for dives like this: http://secretsquirreldivers.com/includes.html/cooldive1.jpg with no problems, as well as in Bonaire.

While the Abyss is a great cold water regulator. You should not over look this latest introduction by Mares, for extreme cold water diving. http://mares.com/product_detail.php?id=61&region=USA, The enviornmentally sealed 1st stage, and technofluoropolymer coated 2nd stage create a regulator that virtually eliminates the possiblity of freezing up. This is the only regulator on the Navy ANU list that encompasses both cold and warm water. A superior breathing reg in all conditions. Good luck,

I have a Dive Rite RG2500Ice and it handles the cold water just fine. One of my dive buddies uses his on technical dives to 200+ feet in the Great Lakes.

Up here in New York, we dive with Zeagle 50D/ZX regs year round in the Finger lakes and Lake Ontario. No freeze ups and never had a problem.

I second the Abyss- I think it is a great all around reg with a simple, bullet proof design. I have had it to 200' in 38f water and it works great.

I've been diving the Blizzard in cold water, 36F routinely and I have had no problems at all with it. Use it in confidence, it's a good solid reg.

I'm surprised that no one has weighed in on APEKS (ATX 500, 100,200), with its sealed first stage. From what I have read, it performs very well and is virtually freeze-proof.
