Hello...

To anyone who has dove in Beqa Lagoon, Fiji

I'm thinking about going there and any info or advice would be helpful.
What is the diving like?
Did you do the shark dive?
Skill level of diving?
Likes/dis-likes?

Any comments would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Bill

Hi Bill

The shark feeding dives off Pacific Harbour are something else - see here: http://www.divetheworldfiji.com/viti-levu-scuba-diving-sites-shark-reef.htm

There is some other diving around but Beqa Lagoon itself is not, in my opinion, what it once was. If you are going to Fiji for diving then (with the exception of the shark dives) you would be best to take a short flight to one of Fiji's other islands such as Taveuni or Kadavu.

Good luck

My family and I absolutely *loved* Beqa Island Resort and their diving. Tons of pretty tropicals, fabulous soft corals (I didn't get, until this trip, what all the fuss was about), nudis, leaf scorpion fish, and blue ribbon eels by the gross (well, almost). On top of that, the food was excellent. Check out some of our pix on http://travel.adventure101.com/fiji (we did both Beqa and Wananavu on this trip).

We didn't do the shark dive at Beqa but saw plenty in Wananavu.

Fiji is now our favorite place to dive (and we've done GBR and Palau).

Thanks for the the replys!
I am specifically interested in the shark dives.
The other attractions also look very exciting.
Thanks for the links to the pictures,
they were all very good!

If you want to do a shark dive, it was a fairly good one. Actually more
of a big-fish dive, with a few sharks thrown in. Lots of giant trevallys, and
Goliath grouper weighing a few hundred pounds. Hundreds and hundreds of
fish milling around. About 6 grey tipped reef sharks and a couple of
bull sharks made an appearance after the trash can of fish parts was
opened. Depth was about 92 feet, so not a real long dive. The
shark dive is done by an operation on the main island. The Beqa Lagoon
resort boats meet them at the dive site, where we dropped off and descended.
The boats anchored some distance away from the shark feeding site, maybe
125 yards or so.

Other diving around Beqa Lagoon was great, with good variation between the
dive sites.
