I'm wondering what kind of water temperatures I could expect if I were to dive Beppu Wan one day. I lived in Japan back in the day, and I'm headed back to Oita next Thursday. I was going to take my bogu, but it takes up a lot of room and the dojo would only be open 1 week due to the next week being Obon anyway (a bad time for home leave altogether, but that's all my office would give me).

So I was thinking of revamping my idea and packing up some essential dive kit and hitting the water.

I went to Oita Sensui's website, and they gave a report on a dive in May, where the temps were 15-18C. I'm tentatively expecting, then I could expect to see maybe lower 20s for August. Does that sound right?
