I didn't think that the diving around Koh Tao was any good. Chumpon Pinnacle and um, Sail Rock, was it? Those were OK but it was a long day.
 
oh, that's what you meant. no, I have no complaints about the heat or humidity. my dislike of Thailand rests more in its commodification of everything that is Thai into tourist traps. Koh Tao was too many tourists and pretty ****** diving, all things considered.

I met an expat there who put it pretty succinctly. He said, "the reason Thailand is the called The Land of Smiles is because everyone is smiling while they rip you off." Granted, he did move there...
Thailand is not the country where you have the most chance of being ripped off. Vietnam is
 
They may also combine the dive trip with some culture such as going to Bangkok for a few days.

If one is into seeing some fabulous temples, then Bangkok is a fine stop for a few days.
