The Indra wreck is farther south (out of Beaufort / Morehead City), but it's also good for newbies. We're still newbies, and the Indra was easy for us. It's close to shore, and there's usually very little current. There's no need to go inside the wreck to see lots of interesting things. The deck is only 35 feet below the surface, and it's the most interesting part, and the seafloor is at 65 feet. You can search the forums for lots of trip reports, including ours from a couple of weeks ago.

We also recently dove in the NC Aquarium at Roanoke - it's in the same trip report. ;-) That was expensive but worth it.
