I just noticed that the cost for all these bc range from $425 to something like $620. That's expensive to me considering if you do tear your bc (unlikely but it does happen) you are looking at a getting the whole setup again.

With a bp/w, you just replace a $300 wing and even that's patchable if the tear isn't too large.

As an earlier poster pointed out, same it true with a Zeagle. You could get into a Zeable Brigade for $400, and if you want to change out the bladder, you just un-web one and put on the next. And the wing would be less than 300.

Hi Larry,

How much would it costs to replace the wing please?

Sorry to hijack this thread but do you have any 300g polartec full suits in your store Larry?

Thanks

You'll get much better advice if you give more information about your diving. How much weight do you carry, what kind of tanks, exposure suit, etc...

If you want a simple BC for warm water use, the zeagle ranger is probably not the best choice. Maybe the escape would be better. In general, I'd look for something with a small bladder and a minimum of fabric, padding, etc. The less you have on, the more comfortable you'll be and the less weight you'll need to offset the inherent buoyancy of the BC.

The backplate/wing set up is terrific IMO. There's enough reading on this forum about them to last you several months.

Aside from the general style, all of which have their fans, the best one is the one that fits you well and is comfortable on you which is something no one can easily tell you on a message board. Then there's preference for various features such as weight integration, pockets, attachment points, etc. I'd suggest reading here to get familiar with the features and pros/cons of the styles you're not familiar with, and then go look at and try on as many as you can. Of course it is best if you can try them in the water, but even if you can't try the exact model you are interested in trying something similar will give you an idea what it will be like. Without more specifics, all you will get is a list of what other people like which is not all that meaningful to you.

I have a Scubapro Ladyhawk and love it. It is very comfortable and doesn't ride up. The only drawback with it is that the only pocket that it has is one roll down one on the bottom of the front right side. Therefore, if you are a gadget kind of person, you might look like a Christmas tree. We also laugh about the "push up" capabilites of the design. Kind of the Victoria's Secret of BCD's.
