SOUTH DEVON once bubbled... Quote No 2, I know that you are supposed to breathe on your primary and make sure the needle on your gauge doesn't move , but I'm not quite sure why? Or what you are supposed to do if the needle does move?
:goofy:
If it moves, it means you are breathing from a small volume of air, probably due to opening the tank valve to check pressure and then shutting it.

Normally, the fix is to open the tank valve before you splash.

The inlet to the first stage being clogged can also cause it.

If you gauge dips when your breathing off the primary then your air isn't on all the way or you have a leak.

I got messed up. Hey what can I say, tanks are my bag right now. Now I want to run out to my car and rip my inflator hose off and check it out. Please forgive me scuba world. LOL

I dive a zeagle tech. The inflator hose goes directly into a bladder. Two little buttons, one inflates, one deflates with a mouth piece for manually inflatting. Once it is taken off there is no little trickle. Just blupp. Yes it is an older bc.

Marie,

I think you may have misunderstood which hose we're talking about. What we're talking about is the need to learn how to unclip the skinny little hose going from the regulator to the inflator button in the event that you push the inflator button and it sticks in the ON position.

We are NOT talking about inclipping the thick hose going into the BCD.

You are absolutely correct. I did misunderstand. I am sorry about that. But my hose did come off and I did hit the bottom like a sack of rocks. Not fun at all. Now I am fixing the darn thing. It was explained to me by Canuckdiver and now I am in the know again. Thank you for straightening me out everyone. :)

I've had that once - its a pain to take that hose out when the inflator is stuck on though i found. I turned upside down and swam towards the bottom until i got it under control. It was a zeagle ranger and apparently mine wasnt the only one that stuck.

I had the same thing last trip to Bonaire with my Zeagle Scout. Inflator button just would get stuck. I am not actually planning to use the thing anymore since I know have 2 sets of BackPlates instead, but I figured if I can get it fixed on warranty, why not. Since Zeagles come with lifetime warranty, I wonder if the LDS or Zeagle will give me a hard time with this since I don't have the original purchase receipt and the scout is about 2 years old.

I cannot recall stuck inflator button even being mentioned, much less stressed during training.

After I heard of it happening, I asked another instructor. Short story: inflator held on at depth on SP vest: pulling on dump hose vented air faster than the inflator could supply it. Ample time to disconnect LP hose while venting and almost no loss of bouyancy control.
Old instructor will not likely get my money for any more classes.
