I was wondering how other divers arrange their miscellaneous gear in and around their BC for rec dives. Such as slates, light(s), knives, safety equipment, etc.

Slate (Wetnotes, actually) in right drysuit pocket; not currently taken on wetsuit dives

one or two scout lights secured with innertube on harness

primary light (night dives only) on lanyard around wrist

shears in left drysuit pocket; currently mounted on belt for wetsuit dives

SMB and spool in left drysuit pocket; SMB goes into backplate pocket and spool is clipped to rear D-ring for wetsuit dives.

Whistle in left drysuit pocket; on left chest D-ring for wetsuit.

My current wetsuit setup is in transition, as I'm not happy with spool and wetnotes placement.

Before anyone asks, yes, this is my recreational configuration.

:)

I'm pretty close to Metridium on gear.

Warm water w/ shorty:

Shears on belt, knife on left waist strap.
SMB w/ spool attached-stowed in backplate pocket-spool is free
Whistle-attached to bottom of SMB
Wetnotes tucked in pant leg
Backup light attached to harness w/ clip and bungee
Cannister light on right waist strap

Dry suit-everything the same except wetnotes, shears, and SMB are in a drysuit pocket.

Slate on right wrist (I'm a lefty). Wetnotes in left drysuit pocket or, if wet, clipped to rear D-Ring.

Safety Sausage, finger reel, extra mask in right drysuit pocket or, if wet, in pocket mounted on BP&W's waist strap.

If carrying a can light (most dives), can mounted on hip w/light head on left hand. Two backup lights (every dive) clipped to shoulder D-rings with bolt snaps and cave line and secured using inner tubes around the shoulder strap and the other end of the light.

Lift Bags (2) tucked up into BP pocket.

Whistle in left drysuit pocket, along with pocket mask. If wet, whistle on shoulder D-Ring. Substitute little protective shield for mask and stuff in waist pocket.

Knife on waist.

a note book that you can right in under water.

I have my knife strapped to my right shoulder (solid shoulders).

I have my slate and fish ID card on a d-ring over my left BCD pocket, which has a pass-through behind for convenient storage of the slate and card.

I keep a pair of telecom snips in a zipper pocket in my left pocket flap.

Whistle is on corrugated hose from inflator.

I have a UK Mini Q-40 that lives on my inflator hose.

I have a short piece of cord attached to my console which I loop through the sternum strap of my BCD: this keeps it from dragging and getting entangled but is also handy and visible. The cord is long enough to stuff it under my BCD shoulder if I like.

I keep my octo on a Dive Rite loop teather, clipped to a d-ring on the middle right.

When I hunt, game bag is clipped to a brass clip on my cumberbun belt on the right.

Safety sausage clipped to a d-ring on lower left.

At night or in low vis, I have a PT cone lite or a red flashing led wand that I tie to my tank valve.

I think this is it...
