still researching this issue guys should i get it with the plate or without?

I'm guessing you have decided on back inflate. As for a backplate and wing versus other back inflates, it depends. A good 7 lb steel backplate is nice for getting your weight better distributed and taking some or all of the weight off your belt. On the other hand, it is obviously a bit heavier than a regular back inflate bc. If you plan on diving doubles at some point, this is the best route to go. You can always get an aluminum backplate if you want to go lighter.

My wife on the other hand has a regular back inflate - a Zeagle escape. It is light weight and functions well with good positioning in the water. Not designed for doubles, but a nice bc.

Try out both types of back inflate before you buy if you can. Considering you are in Tampa, this should not be a problem.

I'm currenlty looking into BCs also. I am a new diver so I understand the options can be overwhelming. What has been consistent in the research I have done is evaluating the folllowing:
- comfort/fit is the most import element. Not only comfort/fit in the store, but when you dive....especially if you are changing styles (from a vest to a back inflate)
- Material used. I will dive predominantly on the east coast where the water is cold...so I am looking into heavier denier (~800-1000).
- How important are features such as number of rings, number of pockets to you
- Do you want in-line inflator hose (to replace loose, hanging octo)....although this feature is available for rear and vest inflates, I do not know if it is available with bp/ws. Perhaps someone can comment.
- How much you looking to spend

At the end of the day, I am (slowly) realizing that you can only limit the field so far. After that, it comes down to preference and experience...the preference is yours, the experience, well, that is why these forums are so valuable!!!

If possible dive different BC's. If you have a local club or group, join them on a trip to the pool, quarry, boat, etc.. Some people probably would not mind letting you try out their BC.

hmm god point and idea
