The 5.5" is the cylinder diameter not the manifold spacing!!! You can have 5.5" diameter bands for the old manifolds or the new manifolds! The NESS are for the newer longer ones and the OMS are for the older shorter ones. Or use the Sea Solutions for a perfect 5.3" diameter fit, I emailed them about manifold spacing, not certain.....

I was able to find a manifold on Ebay that is 5.5" from the centerline of each dipping tube. This will work with the widest 30 or 40 cu/ft tanks at 5.25". Do you know where I can find 4.87" or 5.25" twin bands set wide enough to work with the 5.5" manifold?

I have the manifold and tanks from that system but not the plastic cover. I am going to use the tanks for the double manifold I just got and sell the triple manifold on Ebay.

There are a few reasons. First two Luxfer 30s are a little lighter then a 60. Second there is less variation between full and empty buoyancy weights, twin 30s are +2lbs empty vs a 60 at +4.9lbs. Third they are lower profile so they are better suited for tight spaces and have less drag when swimming especially on the surface. Last the real reason for doing this and this just applies to me, I always wanted a set like that. The triple 30s I have were used for one type of job only, I used them as a bail out bottle when going upside down into a narrow pipe to set charges. I no longer need them so I am breaking them down to a more manageable system. This has no tech diving applications other then a lower profile for confined spaces. I am using them in somewhat shallow water so I do not require too much air and for shallow dives I do not use a BC so the tighter specs between full and empty weights apply more to me than it would to most.

I finally found a way to get the double 30s set up.

I broke down the triple 30s and sold that manifold. Put two onto a small double manifold made for tanks that size and kept the third tank for a bail out. I did see a guy here looking for what he called a travel manifold for setting up doubles from rented singles. He wants to take rented tanks with yoke valves and connect them into a set of doubles but wants to use a din regulator. I will forward him your link.
