By easier, I meant it is easier to buy something from DiveRite that is in their current catalog (7.25" bands) than something that is no longer current (5.5" bands.)

I can get custom bands made apparently (thanks for the link!) but I have to buy manifolds as they are, and DiveRite no longer has the 5.5" manifold in their catalog.

The 5.5" is the cylinder diameter not the manifold spacing!!! You can have 5.5" diameter bands for the old manifolds or the new manifolds! The NESS are for the newer longer ones and the OMS are for the older shorter ones. Or use the Sea Solutions for a perfect 5.3" diameter fit, I emailed them about manifold spacing, not certain.....

I know it is not the manifold spacing. But it does describe the spacing typical to that size tank.

If the idea takes off with customers and I need to put together several sets, I would rather order a stock item in the current catalog (as the manifold for 7.25"/8" tanks which forces a certain separation for tanks that are smaller) than try and source a discontinued item (as the manifold for 5.5" tanks is).

Understood, I'm just saying that the NESS bands ARE for the manifolds you already have and the ones that can be bought today, no need for custom bands. It was one of the first things I posted here, on their site they have OMS bands(short manifold) and NESS bands(long manifold), not sure how else to say it.

Gotcha. Thanks for helping me work out a 'moving target' idea.

First it was is it possible if I find any manifold, and any bands at all. Once I realized that it was possible at all, then it was to try and do it with a stock manifold, and with custom bands.

I would probably want to try it with the slim 30's (4.37") first, so I will likely have to get custom bands for that, but for the 5.25" 30's I could make it work with off the shelf bits. Good to know. Thanks for your time.

Welcome. I'll probably end up with a set after all, will work great for dives with my recreational only friends who only dive single 80's. I nearly always sling something when diving with them just for redundancy, but twin 40's would give me that and be a lot more streamlined=fun! Since I'm only setting up one set I'll go with the narrower bands and manifold to keep it as small as possible......like this:wink:

The person in the link, original had 3 sets and I bought a set. All I have to say is, I love them. No need to reconfigure my double regs for single tank diving, and if I want to I can break them down into 2 single deco tanks, or use them for side mount. The LP45 are nice, very nice tanks.

It looks like Dive-Rite used to sell these but no longer does. Does anyone have a line where one could buy manifolds and Bands for 30s or 19s? They would be on a Transpac so proper bolting and what not would help.

This is more of a "what if" type question, but it seems like some of my tourist customers would get a kick of diving doubles, and being tiny Japanese

1. could get by with little air (I have many customers who can dive a two tank boat dive on a single 50 with 1000 psi left at the end.)

2. could not handle bigger twins (40's are too long, twin 45's and 50's are too heavy, hell even standard 80s and sometimes 67s make them "fall down, go boom")

The only place I have been able to find a manifold is on Ebay but I have not been able to find bands for it anywhere. I am considering just custom cutting a backplate and straping the tanks to it so the backplate is doing the job of the bands or custom making a spacer for between the tanks and straping a harness to that. If you have any luck finding bands please let me know.
