I'm sorry to report that Jan died in his hotel room here in San Pedro, Belize, probably on Sunday 25th March. He had come here to dive, and I met him because he met me through this board and wanted some help with his gear. He was only 51. Police have ruled out foul play. RIP Jan. Peter Jones Protech

Never met him, but this is not the way any of us want to end.

Jan was a friend and neighbour. We've known each other for perhaps 30 years. Not many better than he... a great personality and outlook. He will be missed.

I feel sorry for you. I've been contacted by members of his family and I've tried to help out where I could. A very sad occurrence, made much harder when it happened so far from home.
