I think the only common denominator of Solana and Balai is that they both are located in Anilao.
Solana is definitely high end. First class resort. BEZO (Bea Zobel Jr.) Solana is expensive for some people. But for some of you who can afford around 10k pesos a weekend, then Solana is a place for you. They claim to have 5 star service. Don't agree much with the food.
Balai is more quaint and homey. No pretentions. Food and service is excellent! Not 5 star accomodation but food is 5 star! Rooms are very basic - with clean bathrooms (very important). Roughly 3k for a weekend. Like going to your own beach house for the weekend.
Both resorts are located very close to the famous divesites in Anilao.
