Will be arriving in Playa del Carmen next week with a large family group (3 adults, 3 rambunctious kids, and gear), we will drop our mainland rental car there in Playa del Carmen and take the ferry to Cozumel for the remainder of our trip. In addition to the kids and adults, we will have a moderate amount of baggage, including some big/awkward dive gear (in rolling duffels, so not awful, but not light and easy).
I figure I can drop everyone - and our bags - at the upper side of the plaza near the ADO bus station across from the ferry, go return the car, walk back to meet them, then we drag all our bags down to the ferry dock. Or we can hire one of the bag-drag-assistants to schlepp our bags for us across that relatively short distance.
It's easier going downhill, but still awkward and a minor pain. Days later we will be doing the reverse, at that point we might be even more disinclined to drag all our stuff ourselves uphill to the bus...
What's the going rate for those guys to get our pile of bags from the street to the ferry? (and is it same rate going either way....or is there a gravity surcharge for the uphill drag)?
Thanks!
