IMHO the whole event was stagged to get a little more excitement in the program. This is TV. Who was taking pictures of the the guy taking the pictures? He had air too didn't he. Who was directing the filming. I suspect that there were probably around 10 divers in the water and that the whole thing was scripted. This is TV. I doubt very much that there was ever any danger or emergency lack of air. Just my opinon.

Landlocked.....you hit the nail on the head.....it was all done for excitement.....real divers know that it was bad form and dangerous, however we also sjould know that there were probably several safety diver in the water...........IMHO

About a year ago, I saw a program on Animal Planet that demonstrated some poor dive plan implementation from a person who should know better. I belive the show was about sea snakes. The zoologist/diver was following his subject, talking up a storm in his rebreather/communication device, when apparently he ran out of air and made an emergency ascent. The show ended with him writhing in pain on the boat (perhaps a DCS hit...?) under the admonishing eye of the divemaster. I was so shocked at what I was seeing that I didn't catch all the details for the complete picture, but I'm waiting for it to braodcast again.
