I call BS. How could 2 divers use that much air from that depth? Somebody do the math, i'm too lazy.

SAC is roughly 10cfm for the 800psi->ambient. Seems… high.
15minute runtime on his AL80 corresponds to a SAC of 1.6cfm, which is… even worse than mine.

I have the dive profile on suunto program and can send it to people if they want to see it. i joined a while ago and forgot about this board. I wish this "event" hadnot happened to me but it did. I should have had a pony to be solo diving like this but leason learned. This other diver was AOW cert. He was deffantly way over his head. if i could i would post graph of air consumption but im not sure how too.

Wow, modern dive computers are awesome! Please accept my apologies for any previous skepticism.

It's funny to see the SAC spike to around 3.5. I've been doing my reserve calculations based on twice the combined SAC of myself and my buddy, but it looks like I should probably increase that.

Well, he killed an 80 foot tank in 15 minutes... That's where the problem started. Clearly diving well beyond his abilities.

The boy needs surface supplied air! Good job with the rescue!

Sorry dude.

Some stories just seem to be unbelievable.

My apologies for my doubts as to the credibility of your story.

This is one for the Grandkids.

But when you're telling it to them, throw in a few mermaids, otherwise you probably won't be able to keep their attention.

Donating a slung pony is far easier than donating one that is attached to your primary tank via a hard connection. Pony tamer, cam bands, what ever. Back plate= unclip and they get the whole enchilada.
Eric

Absolutely true, but this has nothing to do with Jacket BC vs. Backplate. I sling a pony from the left chest D-ring and left hip D-ring on my backplate, but you could do exactly the same thing with any BC that had the same two D-rings.

True, a lot of entry level BCs have cheap plastic D-rings, no hip attachment point, etc... but slinging is not precluded by the jacket design.
