I know there are links splattered inside other posts, but many of the links are now broken.

I should have my SSBP and Harness from Fred tomorrow and need instructions on the "proper" way to put this all together.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks: that is the only one I had too. It is nice but has all these retainers required. I don't think Fred supplies them.

Is the only change you make when using this, is to ignore the retainers, and if you want substitute bike innertube?

Thanks James, now that one I had not seen. In black n' white it is easier for this engineer's mind to but it all together.

It really is that simple? Cool.

I only use 5 retainers. All serrated. I only use them where I have d-rings. One on each shoulder, one on the left hip, and two on the crotch strap. I do not understand why they have them the 4 extra ones. I do not feel they are needed.

Edit *** yes, it really is that simple!***

You need retainers (not sure how many are actually needed but you need some for sure) or your d-rings won't stay in place and your harness won't hold adjustment. You should be able to find retainers at your LDS although you might have to shop around to find SS instead of plastic.

I reread the description of the items that come in Fred's kit. His "Billy" rings are a bent D ring and keeper combination.

He also supplies keepers for the standard D rings.

So like you guys have said, you don't need retainers where the webbing goes through the BP, so should be good to go. I think I read where someone used a little extra tubing in those areas to snug it up between the two slots, I may do that just because.

I had the shoulder straps loosen (ie the waist strap was shortened by the lengthening the shoulder strap) once the webbing became wet.

I will be putting keepers where the bottom of the shoulder portion threads through the plate, (to the back or what others may say is the tank side) then feeds back through to the front and becomes the waist belt.

I hope that was clear?

Thomas
